In this episode, Actress Blake Lively joins Elettra Wiedemann to recreate one of her favorite personal recipes, sausage and brie puff pastry, using locally sourced meats and ingredients.
Nars make-up artist Elaine Offers reveals how she created Lively’s smouldering make-up at New York’s Met Gala.
Never one to play it safe on the red carpet, Blake Lively may like to experiment with her sartorial looks, but when it comes to make-up, the 24-year-old sticks to what she knows. At the prestigious Met Gala ball, Lively paired her bronzed limbs with a luminous base and winged smoky eye for a polished, all-American make-up look that’s become her signature beauty go-to.
“Blake knows exactly what she wants, and with the layers of her dress and touch of punk with the biker jacket, we knew we had to focus on the eyes, and keep the look true to her signature style.” says Nars make-up artist Elaine Offers, who created Lively’s look for the night.
Paying tribute to the Costume Institute’s punk theme, Offers added edge by creating a wider, more intense wing. “We really emphasised her eyes by winging the eye products out past the outer eye corner,” she said.
To do this, Offers created an extended cat’s-eye shape with Nars Mesopotamia Eye Paint. “This shade creates the shape and density that we needed,” she says. Ubangi Eye Paint was then applied on the lash line for definition, swept out past the outer corner and extending up towards the brow. A final blend of Black Valley Eye Paint in the roots of the lashes, following the shape of the eye, added tight definition. Voluminous mascara was applied both the top and bottom lashes.
Offers kept the rest of the make-up simple. “It’s all about balance. With a defined eye, you need a light lip and radiant skin,” she says, applying a radiance-promoting foundation and adding warmth with a touch of blush on the cheekbones. A slick of Striptease lip gloss over lips filled in with Floralies Satin lip pencil completed the look.
“It’s signature Blake!” she declares.
Blake Lively may still have a few more years before she can celebrate being a new mom with hottie hubby Ryan Reynolds, but recently the star opened up about her own Mother’s Day memories with her mom and the Gucci perfume she took from Blake!
